Denise came to us in 2018, transplanted from Lubbock, TX. She found her spiritual home and has been affiliated with Disciples of Christ congregations since 1987.
Denise is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a BBA in Accounting. While working in that field she was called to ministry and served as a Licensed/Commissioned minister in the Hi-Plains Area. Before attending seminary and accomplishing an M. Div. at Brite Divinity School, she completed 7 units of Clinical Pastoral Education, serving in several areas of Chaplaincy at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock. She was ordained by the Christian Church in the Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She served as an interim minister, a supply minister, and a hospice chaplain in west Texas.
Denise is married to her husband, Sam. They have three children, three awesome kid-in-laws, and 4 beautiful grands.
When she isn't doing God's work, Denise loves to spend time with her family, crochet and read.
I have been First Christian Church secretary since 1980, starting as a temporary fill-in until a "real" secretary could be hired.
Being church secretary has been a most happy position for me. I have grown old here and still feel that I serve a purpose for me. It is a pleasure to talk to the visitors and church members who drop by from time to time. Belonging to the church for over 60 years, I can talk present time or of past years. Remarkably, a lot of people like to remember times past; and my memory bank is full of information.
I have a daughter and two sons, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, two dogs and two cats, and one fish. Seems like a dynasty to me since I was an only child!
You will find a warm welcome should you choose to visit our church
